If you are reading this it means you have been chosen to partake in the initial colonization of Rendezvous Valley. Of the
thousands of applicants of all races and cultures, we have chosen three hundred of the most capable and hardy to be the first
to lay claim to the wonders of this newly discovered land.
To aid you in reaching your goals in this new life, the all-knowing Maji of the CSM and the noble Librarians of the SSR
have come together to give to each of you the knowledge of what has been discovered during the initial three years of our
exploration into the valley. Because of its lush vegetation and highly fertile soil, our initial exploration has been somewhat
limited. We have mapped approximately fifty squre miles in the vicinity of Fort Rendezvous.
Within this area, the roads will be patrolled by Soldiers of the Armies of Kalamis, keeping the danger of travel to a
minimum. Any who are stout enough to travel farther into the valley and uncover any locations of interest will receive a
suitable reward, and may be granted the right to deed and lay claim to the area. Please see your local CSM or SSR outpost
for further information.

To those not born of noble blood or those nobles wishing to extend their land holdings, King Isaac the Second of Kalamis
extends the following agreement:
"For those brave souls who put their lives in danger in the great name of further exploration We salute you. To
show Our admiration (and to hide Our envy at what you might see) We offer you the following:
"Any individual who gathers the forces and loyalty of his companions to clear and patrol a County-sized area, and
who holds deeds to all locations within said area, will receive the title of Land Baron and the newly cleared County shall
be named after the explorer who found and tamed it.
"No matter your family lineage any deeded County owner who receives a Land Baron title will be received in court,
and his or descendants will be accepted as a member of the Peerage.
"Due to the fire in Berune and the cost of this great undertaking, Kalamis coffers are woefully insufficient to aid
you as We wish We could. It is up to you to protect, patrol, farm, mine and molify the peasantry within his county. We can
offer no aid of funds nor might at this time, only the recognition you deserve.
"We wish you luck and easy travels."
King Isaac of Kalamis
Luck favors the prepared!

Laws of the Colony
As all concerned agree, we revere the adventurer's spirit. The drive and desire to cut into the unknown and bring civilization
to the wilderness is inspiring. Therefore, as a colonist, you shall receive treatment that is better and above what the average
citizen can expect.
Below is a list of colony laws. The enforcement of these Laws is the duty of the Sheriff, the interpretation that of
the Tax Commissioner, and to fairly pass judgement and issue punishment based thereupon is that of the Mayor.
The Crime of High Treason
Any crime committed knowingly against one of Noble Blood,, a Landed Baron, an Officer of the Guard Militant, or any Official
of the Colony shall be considered an attack on the person of the King. In the event that treason has been discovered, official
word shall be sent immediately to the Inquisition, and the Justicars shall be be dispatched to oversee the trial and to determine
the extent of the treason, and to levy the harshed punishment upon the guilty. Any who flee in the face of such a challenge
shall be branded a Heretic, and shall be burned to death and refused return into the Lands of the Living.
Heresy
Any and all traffic with Evil Spirits is forbidden. Should such be discovered, official word shall be sent immediately
to the Inquisition, and the Justicars shall be be dispatched to oversee the trial and to determine the extent of the Heresy,
and to levy the harshed punishment upon the guilty. Any who are found guilty, or who flee in the face of such a challenge,
shall be branded a Heretic, and shall be burned to death and refused return into the Lands of the Living. Should a Cult of
Heretics be found to be too large, the colony shall be burned and extinguished. Anyone attempting to flee the burning shall
be branded a Heretic, and shall be burned to death and refused return into the Lands of the Living.
Incompetence
County Officials are the final word of the King of Kalamis within the Colony and must be beyond reproach. Should an Official
be found wanting, it is a citizens responsibility to report them to the Post Commander.
Bribery
Any attempt to bribe a county official is grounds for trial. If found guilty, all the culprits goods, territory and relics
on record with the Tax Commissioner shall be confiscated and sold at public auction.
Theft
If a deeded property is forcefully taken from another, it is considered theft. If no one was harmed, this crime carries
the penalty of 10 kingdom notes and the confiscation of all the thieves deeded items to be given to the victim. If the victim
was harmed by majik or normal means, the crime becomes assault or higher depending on the judgment of the Mayor.
If the item does not have a deed, the 2 grieving parties are given the opportunity for trial by combat (see below). If
neither agrees, the item is confiscated by the sheriff and put on public auction by the tax commissioner. If only one agrees,
the item is taken by the sheriff and a deed is made for it before it is returned to the individual.
Assault
Crimes of Assault carry the penalty of 20 kingdom notes and 3 hours in the county jail. Assault represents any act of
force or violence against a Citizen of the Colony outside of a properly declared and witnessed Duel.
Murder
Crimes of murder carry the penalty of one Journey (death) per murder committed and the culprit must spend one hour between
each Journey wandering the Nether and contemplating his crimes. Once all crimes have been forthwith Atoned, the culprit will
be welcome again into the Colony. The Colony shall be responsible for the Rescue and Resurrection for each Journey until
the debt is paid. The final return or needed for Rescue is up to the culprit to arrange and is not the responsibility of
the Colony.
Gossip
When someone is caught knowingly speaking malicious untruths and spreading lies against the reputation and good name of
a Colonist, the gossiper shall be charged 5 kingdom notes and 1 hour in jail.
-----
No colonist is allowed to hang, burn, condemn or attack a fellow member of the colony or citizen of Kalamis with the following
exceptions:
Act of Honor
If a Citizen is subjected to a direct insult, or is present when someone insults Lady, the offended party is permitted
to strike down the insulting individual. The attacker is then taken to jail until all sides of the story have been reviewed
by the Sheriff. If the commission of the Insult is confirmed, the offended party shall be released form prison and no charges
shall be filed.
Trial by Duel
If an an indiret insult occurs against the Honor of a Colonist, the offended individual may challenge the accused to a
Duel. The accused must either apologize for the slight or accept the Duel to defend his name. If a Duel is decided, the
two Duelists shall not speak nor interact with each other in any way until the agreed upon day and time of the duel. Failure
to do so by either party is considered to be the crime of Assault. Duelists each choose a Second, to act as his or her Agent
in these mattes. The Seconds shall then acquire a Dueling Permit from the Tax Commissioner. They Seconds then inform the
sheriff (who must be present for the Duel) of the degree of details of the insult and arrange a time for the Duelists to meet.
Each second shall then inform his respective duelist. At the appointed time the Duelists arrive, the seconds show the permit
to the Sheriff, and a Circle of Honor is placed upon the ground. If a duelist leaves the Circle before Honor is satisfied,
the remaining Duelist is granted victory.

a 2/3 vote, and placed on record with the Tax Commissioner. A copy must also be sent to the Great Library for cataloging.
